Combined waterbottom research

Combined UXO, environmental and archaeological research
Waterbottom research often has several goals, like geophysical research of archaeological remains or explosives, depth measurements, environmental survey or inspection with divers. Often these investigations are performed simultaneously by different companies. By combining thes investigations, T&A provides a complete picture of the waterbottom in a more efficient way, saving both time and costs. For this reason T&A has a partnership with ADC Maritiem underwater archaeology and  Baars-CIPRO diving and waterbottom research.

Combining knowledge
Geophysical data can show local deviations in water depth, geomagnetic field and transition of layers of the water bottom. These can be caused by various factors, like the presence of an aerial bomb, a ship wreck or another obstacle. Combining measurement results makes it easier to find the cause of the deviation. The main advantages of combined research are:
  • The coordination fo the various types of preliminary and field investigations,
  • The efficient use of techniques for more than one research goal,
  • One single report that includes all information without contradictions.

Based on the obtained information, more detailed research using borholes and divers can take place more efficiently. Sometimes the extra information shows that further research is not necessary. Also, the chances of unexpectedly encountering objects of archaeological value during regular activities become smaller. In both cases this means saving a lot of extra expenses.
